OPGW Cable Fiber Optic Reflectometry Review and Testing
These measures allow to evaluate the continuity of the fiber and detect defects. They will be backscatter measurements made with optical reflectometers (OTDR), working at different wavelengths depending on the type of fiber cable. The width of the pulse used in each section should be as small as possible to increase the resolution at a distance, but at the same time an adequate signal to noise ratio (SNR) must be guaranteed at the opposite end of the fiber under test.
